Vision

The Department of Civil Engineering strives to graduate highly qualified engineers, maintain nationally recognized research and provide quality professional and community service to the nation.

Mission

The Civil Engineering Program at the” Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management “ through its faculty, staff, students, and constituents work together to acquire, generate, share, and use knowledge in the different fields of Civil Engineering. The Programme accomplishes its mission through undergraduate programme and contributes to the quality of these programmes by followings step:

  • To educate people with the necessary skills from fundamental to state of the art.
  • To impart knowledge to students.
  • Fostering lifelong learning.
  • Integrating learning and discovery.
  • Developing and sharing technical expertise.
  • Empowering students to be tomorrow’s leaders.
  • Encouragement for entrepreneurship and economic development to benefit nationally and globally.

To guide for ethical, environmentally responsible engineering practice

Civil Engineering is one of the core engineering disciplines, which involves planning, design, construction, maintenance and management of structures or public works, like bridges, roads, canals and water supply systems. It has been our endeavor, right from the beginning in 2014, to make our Department a preferred destination for students who want to get to the top of this field. The department of Civil Engineering, GKCEM Under JIS Group comprises of experienced as well as young dedicated faculty members. All the faculty members are highly qualified, having graduated from reputed Government institutes and most of them with additional industrial experience. The department has well equipped laboratories, state of art computer facilities and a perfect ambience for research work. The department has highly experienced technical assistants with industrial experience. The department takes care of the overall development of the students by Blended Mode Teaching Followed by weekly mentoring system, which in turn facilitates their development into good human being and responsible civil engineers. Guided by industrial requirements, beyond curriculum courses are delivered through extensive assignments, project works and much more. Our department encourages students to attend seminars, conferences and regular entrepreneurship programs. Students are also encouraged to take up research based projects and publish their works conference and journal papers. Students are provided guidance to appear for GATE and other competitive examinations like IES, WBPSC, etc. Many students of our department have participated in National technical events organized by different colleges and won prizes.

The alumni of this department are well placed in academia, multinationals and in government and private sector. We have an Alumni Committee, comprising of alumni, placed in reputed companies like Pinnacle, L&T, Simplex, etc. or involved in research works in reputed National & International universities, IITs and IISCs. This alumni committee provides unique opportunities for aspiring students by sharing their skills and experiences. We try our best to produce responsible civil engineers with good ethics, to serve our nation and across the entire world.
