The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Greater Kolkata College of Engineering & Management (GKCEM), under the JIS Group, has been shaping future engineers since 2014. With a strong focus on innovation, practical learning, and industry relevance, the department prepares students to meet the evolving challenges of the global industrial sector.

We offer a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, with intake capacity recently increased to 90 students from 2024–25, reflecting our steady growth and industry demand. From the same academic year, we are also introducing a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (intake: 60) to build strong technical foundations and open career pathways for aspiring engineers and technicians.

Our dedicated faculty members, supported by skilled technical staff, bring a balanced blend of academic rigor and real-world experience. To enhance learning, the department provides state-of-the-art laboratories including:

  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) Lab
  • Thermal & Fluid Mechanics
  • Workshop & Manufacturing
  • Solid Mechanics & Material Testing
  • Advanced Manufacturing Lab with CNC Lathe machines.
